It is a shame and an embarrassment to see what so much of Law Enforcement (not all) has turned into.

Yea well the cops are the tools of local power.
Most likely that Barber is like myself and told some city official where to put his head. They really cannot deal with being told where to put their head as you are supposed to meekly bow to their will.

Cops are all about enforcement of power and in this case I am quite sure they were doing some Black Robe a favor.

Hey in Irmo, SC the cops have a new gig, they run the streets handing out garbage can tickets to all who have not moved their garbage can away from the curb by 10 a.m. Lol.

I asked one of them how I could get such a job, so far I have not been raided.

Unfortunately, this is too often the case!
There are a lot of good cops on the street, but in the end they have to do what their superiors tell them.

Crikey SWAT Teams to check barber shop licences.
Somebody got the threat assessment very wrong for that operation.
Who ever that was should be told to sling his hook.

It is no secret that I dislike cops. However this attitude has been well earned by themselves. I am not sure if there are any GOOD cops. I suppose it depends upon how you define GOOD. This attitude I have was well earned when I was just out of the military and became a cop and they tried their best to buy my soul. Problem was I would not sell. I have this strange sense of honor that says, crime is crime and bad is bad, no matter who you are. I also had this attitude of if you rip through the school zone I will give you a ticket, if you are going 50 in a 35 early of a morning on an open road.........who cares? This certainly is no crime, I will just go see if I can find the one who has been stealing BBQ grills at Lowes. I might even arrest the Mayors son for running drugs, which I did do twice. Lol!

Yes the cops are under the control of the power of the local entity and if they wish to retain their jobs they will do as told. If they resist even if they have 15 years invested the entity does not care as politics must survive. If one of them steps outside the boundary of the expected honor to the entity they just find a means to be rid of that particular GOOD cop.

What I see in life is it takes a special kind of person who desires power themselves to be a cop. A good way to see this is to watch one of our local Sunday morning speed traps as a dozen of them set up and start handing out revenue tickets. A lot of thumbs up and slapping of ticket books on the leg go on. They do enjoy this game of power. So those who willingly carry out the demands of power, also enjoy enforcing the power. Any person who contests with them is yes, in danger of example of I will shoot you if you do not act right. They themselves enjoy this power trip. A lady who gets a bit scared and drives off is subject to being shot in our modern era of power hungry cops.

Now there is always more crime within any police department than in ordinary life, it is always something from re-selling seized drugs to acting as personal Mafia enforcers. Over and over we see not only field officers raping women during traffic stops, to shooting someone for a seat belt violation, to such as the city of Columbia SC where there have been half a dozen police chiefs caught in crime in the past two years, to the Lexington County SC. sheriff who was putting up illegal immigrants as a work force for local business men.

Thing is again how do you define GOOD? Is a cop that sees another cop sell some drugs and says nothing good? Or is he just a part of the system of the brotherhood that demands he protect his fellow cops. Is this cop who does this good?

These same cops that run about handing out valentines have a great deal of BAD in them all. As soon as you do contest with one, you have contested with them all, regardless of what it is they may have done. The brotherhood stands as one and politics, crime, and BAD are not only throughout a police department but it seems to be just like our politicians, a politician must be a crook to become a politician and cop must learn to sell their soul to the brotherhood to remain a cop.

Cops and politicians are much the same. Politicians make the rules and the cops enforce the rules. There is not much GOOD in any of them, but there is a whole lot of BAD within the entire system.

Those who enforce law upon the rest of us, must be held to a much higher standard. As this standard has been sold to the politicians and the cops have become the enforcers of political law , cops and politicians leave the same bad taste in the mouths of all citizens.

All cops are power control driven, rapists and drug dealers.

              What a lot of C. R. A. P.

Just because you say it doesn't make it so.

              Please get some help.

Although I come from a family with a lot of law enforcement types (police, deputies, a sheriff and 2 state police), and I am sorry for how my son left the force (debilitating heart attack), I'm glad he is no longer a police officer. Too many people today would rather let him die in the street, assuming he probably did something wrong to earn whatever happened to him than would make the effort to call 911 between texts. There are a lot of worthy people, but there are too many who are not. I'm just glad he's out of it now.

I do like these discussions as when one does present truth and fact those who are cops gather within the brotherhood to deny all things we see that are truth each passing day.

Sorry truth can no longer be denied, truth is on the evening news each day.

Cops used to be good guys, they served and protected, they were the ones you did call is some thief was around, they were the ones you did call for any problem. No so today. Cops today are the ones all try to avoid and all are quite sure any contact with a cop will be a negative one.

As the cops become the tools of the local powers and the local powers seek revenue to replace their lost tax base due to economy concerns and as they aggressively pursue the citizens the citizens do start to notice.

If a citizen is involved in a self defense situation (a cop is always only minutes away) then rather than help that citizen these cops try to get the self defense shooter to say something to hang self. After all we cannot have citizens carrying guns and shooting thugs, as the government says guns are bad and thugs have rights.

As those who are power hungry become STARS in U-TUBE videos and as those who shoot innocents become STARS of their own right and as this is not now rare but actually very common, the attitude of the citizen against the cop is well earned and documented.

I must take back part of this post and change the saying that cops used to be good guys, and say MOST used to be. As even some 35 to 40 years ago when I was just a youngster there were adequate bad ones to cause a sour taste in the mouth. In modern times a good cop is a about as rare as an actual BigFoot in a cage.

Give a man a gun and a badge and back him up with power, give him power and there are plenty who abuse this power. They become above the law and provide the current attitude the average citizen has of cops.

Yes the news is full of truth daily, from revenue traps, to unjustified shootings, to departmental crime, greed, graft and political corruption.

If the cops wish this attitude to change, they must themselves change it. I will not hold my breath as money and power throughout history as proven all the TRUTHS seen daily on the evening news.

Cops enforce the law, corrupt politicians make the laws. Nuff said.
