  • Grand Jury does not indict Tony Stewart

It was just announced that Tony Stewart will not be charged in the death of the (idiot) Kevin Ward. Why do I call him an idiot? It's not just because he climbed out of his car and walked onto the track in the middle of the race. I call him that because he was racing while high on pot.

An upstate New York grand jury declined to indict three-time NASCAR champion Tony Stewart Wednesday in last month's death of sprint car driver Kevin Ward Jr.

What an idiot kid indeed. Hey let's get stoned and then hop in our race car, very clever Kevin.

Could be the only way he had guts enough to drive with the "BIG BOYS"...??

          Glad for Tony myself!

I was at a local short track years ago, it was fan participation night. The flagman stood just inside the infield and waved the rookies on. When the two best cars/drivers had the final shoot out one lost control on the final lap and ran into the flagman.. He flew in the air in front of all of us spectators!!
When he landed we all thought him for dead!
A couple hours later it was annouced he had only broken a leg. The flagman stays in the tower to this day during all races

Although I do agree with all, I bet this is not the end of it. This is the age of the fact no one is responsible for their own actions and Tony Stewart may face years of hassle and civil action over the deal.

Smoking dope is the in thing, how dare anyone contest with that or put blame on that, it is not true I tell ya. Anyways it may not be over yet.

It is not over for Tony, I just heard this evening the kid's parents are going to have a civil lawsuit against Tony. What pieces of work his parents are as well, they just can not accept the fact that their dumb kid made a couple of mistakes, one really big one.

                Interesting, I hadn't heard that...

Kevin Ward and his family lived about 30 miles north of me and from what I read in the local press, his funeral was a big deal, I wonder how big it would have been if it was known at the time that he was stoned when he stupidly decided to walk out onto a active race track?

I feel bad for his parents... but going after Tony, who did nothing wrong, is a lose-lose situation

Tantillo also said Ward was under the influence of marijuana that night "enough to impair judgment." But not enough to make him think about operating a motor vehicle on a race track or enough to make him think about stepping out on a race track in front of race cars. No that joint(s) only made him dumb enough to make him believe he could make life and death choices without consequences. This type of life choices will be on the increase in states that legalize marijuana. Bad enough people drive while over the DUI limit and with illegal drugs in them.

Maybe the Racing Industry will institute a drug ban to avoid another incident like this and also have the drivers take a urine test, blood test, and hair follicle test 24 hours prior and immediately after the race.

Doing drugs affects everyone. It's a shame the kid died and it's a shame his choice of doping put Tony in deep crap.
                    Senseless.
I'm sure Tony will be sued and it's going to cost him a ton of money.
Urine tests before each race will be expensive but I don't see anything else stopping the dope usage. Sad.

Now Doctor, you are way too intelligent to believe it is all gonna go away. This is the new age where such as spilling hot coffee on yourself allows you to sue those who sold it to you, magnified in our new and better society.

Even if they are unable to collect the legal fees and costs can become a constant drain to any innocent person as our new society does not call accidents an accident any longer.

Some well meaning lady can stop her car in the middle of the road and shoo some ducks to safety and some other fool can come along and run into her and kill themselves and soon this lady who was just trying to be compassionate is sued and placed in jail. The fool who run into her is not responsible for their own actions and just because they were not paying attention is not relevant.

This is a bit of mischief but I think someone should sue the mechanical team who constructed the car, after all it should have been a more friendly car. Lol!

I really haven't been watching that closely, but did somebody thing he ran this guy down on purpose?
I understand there being an investigation. There always is when it comes to fatalities, but come on! It would take a really idiot to purposely do something like this with all the cameras on you!

And now we get to the root cause of all the hype. Lawyers and the media capitalizing on a tragic event. What a surrprise!
And don't be too quick to blame the parents. It's quite possible that one or more Lawyers were calling on them while the body was still warm!

Does anyone know who the kid's car owner is? Was it the kid's parents?

It was a family owned team.

Imagine what an out of control hot head he would have been, had he not cleared his mind and mellowed out before the race (since we all know from elsewhere that pot has no negative effects, only positive).

Kit, you say that and sound like you're semi-kidding, but there was a case in the DFW area that was almost identical to what you described.

The main road in DFW airport used to have large flashing signs detailing information about which flights were arriving or departing at which terminals. Some idiot stopped his car in the middle of the road so he could read about his flight. He was rear ended, and someone in the moving vehicle died (don't remember if it was the driver or passenger). The family sued the airline and the airport!

When it first happened, there was talk that he intentionally drove at the guy to intimidate him (the kid was yelling and cussing him), and accidentally hit him. But, it was just speculation, and didn't really look like that from the flims I saw.

Nope... it's true. A woman stopped for ducks near Montreal and a guy on a bike crashed into her car. Two people were killed.

A woman who stopped to help a group of ducklings on the side of the road has been found guilty of causing the deaths of a motorcyclist and his passenger daughter who slammed into her parked car.
