Ah, but for who? I would think teams will treat him like he's poison and avoid the PR nightmare it would cause if they signed him.

There is another problem here rearing its head other than domestic violence. When law enforcement (officers and ASA/DA) fails to act are we, the public, suppose to expect private business to punish the DV offender? Because if we expect sports to either hand down additional penalties or be the sole entity to punish, then should we not expect other businesses to do likewise and ban or fire their employees for committing DV? There are going to be a lot of men and some women out of work.

Sad but true, just like all the other POS sports figures that do some unforgivable act and are banned for life yet reappear a few years later and everything is all good again.

If this were handled the way it should have been, he wouldn't be out if jail in two years.

the saddest part of the whole mess to me, did you see all the people wearing his jersey in support of him at last night's game?did you notice how many of his supporters are women?have we as a community become this "sick" that we can actually blame the woman like they were saying in the interviews? remember the saying"stop the world,i wanna get off", it's time.

No, the saddest part to me is the wife who is sticking up for him. No wonder some of these women end up dead.

The sad thing is that the phenomena of women sticking by their man after being abused is not confined to any social/economic class of women. Some breakout of the mold, some as you say don't.

Just more black on black crime. When Eric Holder, Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson speak out and condemn all of the B on B violence then I'll give a s#!t. She stayed with and married him because he is her meal ticket. IMHO of course.

I only watch/follow hockey. I'm not saying there aren't occasional problems... but there are far less in the NHL than in the NFL and NBA. Why? I think it has everything to do with the fact that hockey players are overwhelmingly the product of middle class families.

Hockey is an expensive sport. My son played from age six to 17... he was a goalie and we spent untold thousands each year on equipment, team fees, camps, and travel costs. But the parents of forwards and defensive players also paid high costs. A single hockey stick these days can cost $150.

NBA and NHL players can come from anywhere... and they often come from thug parents and broken families.

I don't watch the NFL or NBA for just that reason. I have no desire to support thugs...

Until the woman decides she will no longer take it, their situation will not change. I once called the police on a neighbor beating his wife and child, he got 2 years for threatening them with a shotgun. She was waiting for him when he got out and moved from Michigan to Tennessee with him, luckily the grandparents got the child.

Along the same lines, look at all the woman that show up next to their cheating politician husbands while he says he 's sorry for cheating on her. Worse yet is the voters that think he will be faithful to them if re-elected.

Lone Ranger asked a great question on the previous page & I don't see anyone addressing it.

What are you going to demand if your doctor, or lawyer, or motorcycle mechanic or anyone you know has a morally offensive video posted on youtube? Are you going to demand that his employer fire him, or fine him or do something else to him or her?

Are our employers now supposed to assess further penalties, such as firing us when we do something illegal? If you get a speeding ticket and supposedly endanger someone, should your employer be able to fire you from your job, if the offense didnt occur on work time?

Will the same penalties be assessed on women who abuse men, or do they get a pass? I noticed the NFL has no men on their new blue ribbon panel of women who are supposedly experts on domestic abuse.

Are the non domestic abusers in the NFL now going to be required to attend some "domestic abuse program" set up by these three women, and thereby be forced into a program they have no need for. Would you be happy if you had to attend such a program to keep your job? Is everyone in the NFL a domestic abuser, as some on this forum seem to be calling them?

And I know that the Professional sports have clauses in their contracts regarding acts bringing disrepute on the League or some such statement.

But the lady who was knocked out saw fit to marry the jerk, so evidently she didn't think the abuse was as bad as everyone else. And I have no doubt that it will happen to her again.
