  • DHS Under Secretary confirms inability to stop southern border crosssings.

After testifying before Congress and acknowledging the truth about how porous our southern border is, only confirming what most have come to know to be true, DHS went into damage control to attempt to reverse what the Under Secretary told Congress.

    Goes something like this:
    "The sky is blue."
"No, the sky is not blue."
"But we can see the sky is blue."
    "It's not."
    "But...."
"The sky only looks blue, we will let you know when it is blue."

We can't seem to stop the tens of thousands of illegals from Mexico crossing the southern border and it seems we also can't do anything about those of Central America and South America either; not to mention the gov has lost track of 6,000 individuals here on student visas. So how are we going to stop a handful of terrorists from crossing the southern border and connecting with likeminded individuals in the U.S.? The key words in the DHS damage control statement are "active plot". Nevermind about reassuring Congress the southern border is not porous and intrusion can be halted.

September 10, 2014 2:25 pm UPDATE 7:28 P.M.: Following publication of Francis Taylor’s remarks, a DHS spokesperson contacted the Washington Free Beacon to clarify his comments about the exact threat ISIL poses to the southern border.

“There is no credible intelligence to suggest that there is an active plot by ISIL to attempt to cross the southern border,” the DHS spokesperson said.
    _
A senior Homeland Security (DHS) official confirmed to Congress on Wednesday that militants associated with the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL or ISIS) are planning to enter the United States via the porous southern border.
Francis Taylor, under secretary for intelligence and analysis at DHS, told senators during a hearing that ISIL supporters are known to be plotting ways to infiltrate the United States through the border.
“There have been Twitter, social media exchanges among ISIL adherents across the globe speaking about that as a possibility,” Taylor told Sen. John McCain (R., Ariz.) in response to a question about “recent reports on Twitter and Facebook of messages that would urge infiltration into the U.S. across our southwestern border.”
“Certainly any infiltration across our border would be a threat,” Taylor said, explaining that border security agents are working to tighten measures that would prevent this from taking place.
“I’m satisfied we have the intelligence and the capability on our border that would prevent that activity,” Taylor said.
However, McCain was dubious, referring to recent videos released by activist James O’Keefe showing him crossing the border while wearing an Osama bin Laden mask.
Asked by McCain why agents did not stop O’Keefe, Taylor could not provide an answer.
“You can’t answer it because they weren’t there to stop him,” McCain responded.
“The fact is there are thousands of people who are coming across our border who are undetected and not identified, and for you to sit there and tell me that we have the capability or now have the proper protections of our southwest border, particularly in light of the urgings over Facebook and Twitter [by ISIL] for people to come across our southwestern border, is a great concern to the citizens of my state.”
Taylor admitted that more must be done to shore up border security in light of ongoing threats.
“The security at the southwestern border is of great concern to the department and I certainly understand the concerns of the citizens of your state,” he told McCain. “If I gave you the impression I thought the border security was what it needed to be to protect against all the risks coming across the state that’s not what I meant to say.”
There is little evidence to prove that ISIL militants or other terror actors would be stopped if they attempt to cross the border, McCain said.
“I don’t think there’s any doubt, I don’t see when you look at ISIS and the growth and influence of ISIS that it would be logical [to claim they would be stopped], as they’re saying on Facebook and Twitter, to come across our southwest border because they can get across,” he said.
Other U.S. officials have warned ahead of President Obama’s speech this evening that ISIL is growing in strength and seeking the capability to attack America directly.
“We remain mindful of the possibility that an ISIL-sympathizer—perhaps motivated by online propaganda—could conduct a limited, self-directed attack here at home with no warning,” Matthew Olsen, director of the U.S. National Counterterrorism Center, said in a recent speech.
“We have seen ISIL use a range of media to tout its military capabilities, executions of captured soldiers, and consecutive battlefield victories,” Olsen said. “More recently, the group’s supporters have sustained this momentum on social media by encouraging attacks in the U.S. and against U.S. interests in retaliation for our airstrikes. ISIL has used this propaganda campaign to draw foreign fighters to the group, including many from Western countries.”
"I ask, sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people, except for few public officials." (George Mason, 3 Elliot, Debates at 425-426)

Yea well those politicians have many tricks. Is it possible a small group would come across the border at Mexico land? Sure, but stop and think do they really need to, or can they just fly to the United States and land in a cow pasture somewhere.

Some politician or news person started this and now the news media has something else to yap about. It has become quite apparent that the news media is one of our biggest enemies to this nation. They are certainly not intent upon protection of our nation, only have but the wish to tear all things down. It has become a crime for a soldier to actually shoot an enemy.

As for that border and all this mess, I put the blame directly upon my fellow citizens. If my fellow citizens did not provide them with jobs and the means to live in the USA, then they would not come to the USA.

The situation I am most familiar with is in the building trades. Greed of my fellow citizens caused the entire building trades system to fall. Now the few citizens that still try to make a living in the building trades cannot even afford to put new tires on their work vehicle.

The builders with great greed provided jobs to immigrants and used the immigrants for very cheap labor and no one stopped it, local business provided the jobs and the government opened its palms for more tax dollars.

Now it has progressed to all that it is. Too late now as there are enough of them to now have a voice in allowance of more .

Yes I put the blame upon the GREED of my fellow citizens.

I agree with you, however, I also put a lot of blame with the politicians. There are a lot of people coming across the border for the free public education, healthcare, and other handouts. There are no jobs here anymore, so what else are the coming for?

But, I agree totally with the greed of the building industry. When I built my new home in 2003 not one person working on it spoke English. Not one!

But, it is not just the greed of the builders and employers, American citizens need lower cost products and services thanks to a stagnant economy. Incomes have not risen in decades, yet taxes, insurance and other costs continue to rise. If all our homes were built by Americans with minimum wage laws, nobody would be able to buy a home. Our whole economy is a house of cards.

The establishment Republican's, and there are many, are just as responsible as the dems for ignoring the Constitution on this issue.

These problems we face today "Can Be Fixed" but the problem of "What"s In It For Me" stands in the way. I agree "GREED" is the biggest hurtle we need to overcome. It ranges from crop growers to politicians and what state you live in. We can only blame ourselves for getting into this mess and blame ourselves for not demanding our Constitution be followed to the letter.

The world was and is still in shock form the 9/11 disaster when America was cowardly attacked. Justice has never been served then and even now as we fight another war against those who wish to harm us, it will be just a "Feel Good" kind of day. Today is in fact a sad day but I'm an American and still proud of it. God Bless America and Never Forget..

With the Chinese companies starting to build homes and buy up real estate we can probably see made in China on the signature lines soon, and done cheaper too.

One thing they come for is free health care, and free having a baby care. They live with someone and take advantage of all the free stuff provided to them by our social programs. Some also flee the violence that is in that country rather than take a stand and defeat those who hold them hostage to violence. Of course that may not be totally fair as it does take money, food and weapons to fight with, when you are poor you have few options and running is maybe one of them.

But, I agree totally with the greed of the building industry. When I built my new home in 2003 not one person working on it spoke English. Not one!

Yep our economy is a house of cards, and as we borrow more and more from ourselves and decrease the value of the dollar, it does not look good for the future. All of these little wars also add billions of dollars to the already out of control debt.

As for our purchases and along those lines an example is such as work boots. Now I can go buy some American boots, well they might be American boots as now many of them are imported also ....such as Danner, or Red Wing and those boots will cost 300 bucks and last just about a year. They most likely last others much longer but I am tuff on boots. Or I can run to Wally World and buy a pair for 40 bucks that will last six months. So two pair cost me 80 bucks and I have saved $220 bucks.

It is a catch 22, and too late to recover at this point. Our economy has become world wide centered and we have lost our production to imports. Much of this was due to Greed also, as workers and their unions demanded more, more, more, more, and companies began to relocate to avoid the demands. Gradually imports took over the market almost completely. At this point to build a production factory and support the overhead and the wages and all the demands is not even an considered option as that company would be bankrupt in 30 days. There is no longer an ability to compete with imports in the market place and support a living wage for the workers and show a profit for the owners of the company.

For the time being we do still have large commercial and industrial production such as aircraft and steel, and some other things, but gradually these things are also being overtaken by wage hour limits, and wage decrease and good jobs are becoming mediocre jobs.

Bye the way, Thanks again for your criminal actions in starting this forum.

I never make post's about politics and I hope I don't regret this one, I totally agree about the illegal alien crisis, but I am going to play the devils advocate here and ask why, if you feel so strongly about it, do you hire them or companies that employ them? I have a lawn service that employs all US citizens, and I just had a new 4 car garage built, also by a company that does not hire illegals, I made that a requirement when I contacted them, also when they provided a estimate they were told in no uncertain terms that I would not allow a non-citizen on the job and to remember that when they submitted there estimate, also received 4 bids from companies that employed illegals(one threatened to sue me for discrimination), on the lawn care the estimates were the same and one guy was even cheaper(father&son born&bred in usa) by 5$, on the garage, I received a bid for the same price and 2 that were less than 10% higher than the companies that used illegal aliens, I paid the 10% higher company because of their policy of not using illegals and am more than satisfied with their work, as a matter of fact they are now building a addition on my daughter's house.
I will not patronize any business that employe illegal aliens, don't mean to pi$$ anyone off, but you control where your money goes, to a certain extent. everyone have a great day

I listened to the audio cut of the guy answering McCain's question, and it sounded to me like more of a question than an answer... like the guy was uncertain of his answer.

When offering a statement, it should sound like a statement; when asking a question, it should sound like a question. Too many folks today apparently cannot get this right. The DHS guy was a prime example of this.

Our country has been a runaway train ever since the war machine/corporations silently took control of our government and lives. Lobbyist and the like.....

Yes indeed. it's all about the greed of the big people, not us little people. All we can do is sit in the back of this runaway train and look out the window and wait to enter a curve we cannot survive. An idiot can see what's coming. The great depression was not an accident. It was the big banks getting rid of the little banks. The big people profited from it. That's one of many examples of the heavy big hand pushing us in their direction.

Let's go secure other countries borders and never fix our problems. Let's go fix other countries and not fix Mexico, really. They are coming here because our greedy folks want and need them and their services. Living in Mexico must be hell or they would stop coming. The only thing we have done is build up the drug lords so they can invest their monies in our banks, yes our banks take their money.

We paid a bit more when we built our house by filtering out the builders who employed illegals and remaining firm on it when the winner did the job. We also have a fertilizer company that sprays the yard every other month or so and we required the same thing. Also went with an exterminator with the same. Ya gotta stand for something and back it up with more than empty principles.

If it were up to me, I would bring all our troops home and line them up shoulder to shoulder on our southern border facing south with orders to make sure no living thing crosses. Sounds extreme but at least our troops would be protecting our homeland instead of being foreign aid for the rest of the world. IMHO.
