  • I turned off the lights when I left...

I just found this board and invited myself to the party.

It's amazing just how quickly the old GL1800 board devolved into obscurity and irrelevance! The remaining few still there are trying to defend the new and improved, super-sensitive, and politically correct board... at the same time as it circles the drain. It is likely that it will ultimately and perhaps soon be consumed by nothingness.

Hal and Lamont are due props for keeping that board going as long as they did. I hope they were well compensated by the idiots that took a good thing and quickly ran it right into the ground.

Welcome Keghead -- always enjoyed your posts "over there". Someone could do a PhD dissertation on political correctness and its negative affect on social media utilizing them as the example.

Won't be me... one PhD dissertation in a lifetime is plenty!

From a research standpoint, a better angle would be to have someone in an MBA program look at it from a business case... as in what not to do when you buy a business.

Isn't that very much a common (though ineffective) business practice? Big company grabs something smaller but successful, changes it all up to what the books say will work, then stand around and scratch heads wondering what went wrong. I've seen it several times.

You're probably right... I'm an engineer and have always been mystified by the seemingly stupid actions of business "professionals". That being said, I think the changes over at the other board weren't really business decisions... but in large part were attempts at dictating behavior and ideology.

Thanks Wheels. Now I know why PhD students are typically young adults... most people in their mid-50's know better!
