  • They Still Don't Get It

I'm sorry for posting about that "other" forum again, but the moderators and admins over there just don't seem to get it. They have gone way over the top and just keep shooting themselves in the foot. Now they have taken away the ability to delete your own post. They say "it will make things better". What's up with that? Won't be much longer and I will stop going over there all together. I should know better by now. Just when you think it can't get any worse, it does.

Again, my apologies to the members here and thanks Cruiseman for a better alternative. (Still waiting for that thumbs-up smiley though.)

What I had heard was that a person would only have a limited amount of time in which they would be able to delete or edit their post after they had posted it. The rational was that they didn't want people to be able to go back well after the fact and delete/edit their posts as means of making themselve's appear to have not made the comments they did (i.e. personal damage control). Maybe I have that wrong?

Same here. And I'm about to stop going back at all. But I still enjoy reading the posts of a few folks on the Technical Forum like Techdude2000. I wish he would come over here.

I learned about it from a friend who is still over there. He emailed me that he had made a post in a thread and immediately changed his mind about posting it. He tried to delete it right after posting and he could not. All he could do was edit the text.

All that is going to accomplish is to make people think twice before they post in the first place.

Nothing worse than trying to follow a thread and make sense of it when things have been changed, so I can sort of understand it. I still check in over there, still some good info. But I've only ever been a member of two forums of any subject, there and here and I'm not up on the whole process.

Kinda funny when this place is mentioned "over there", it goes POOF in about 30 seconds.

LOL, sure is nice to have another place to come too. I still read and check in at times but had already lost interest. Oh well, it is what it is.

This is not going to work out very well for the resident "Professional" Greg.

He edits everyone of his posts and claim that the mods deletes those that don't go so well.

Perhaps you should invite GL1800 to be a site sponsor.

No one recruited me for this place.
                                    No one had to.
At some point this site becomes the best choice.

I really enjoy my time spent here and have learned a lot.

Only allow access to the OTF after a member has posted 25 or more times (see Option 2 above)
