My wife brings up New Zealand to me all the time. About 5 years ago, we were on our way from Ouray Co over to Silverton, got caught in the snow going over Red Mountain pass and was following a snow plow. We got stopped for over a hour at the top, and there was another bike rider from New Zealand there stopped with us. We talked bikes and where we all were from and such, and he was a Commercial Fisherman from New Zealand "like they do on Deadliest Catch" We ended up riding together the rest of the way to Silverton Co, had lunch together and he went on his way towards Durango. We exchanged telephone numbers and just recently he called up and was telling us he was going to be coming back to the US next summer to ride some more. We are planning on meeting up with him up in Colorado or Utah. He has invited us to New Zealand a hundred times, I need to take him up on it one day soon. The wife just is foaming at the mouth to go over there and ride!!! What a beautiful country you have there. He sends us photos all the time.

Kiwi, I did a 10 day ride out of Nelson, with Thunderbike, back in January 2001. It was a great ride. We spent most of the time on the South Island, which was my favorite. Luckily, of the bikes they had for us to choose from, I was smart enough to choose the adventure bike, while a couple young snots from the US choose cafe racer street bikes. They suffered through the experience.
I would ride in NZ anytime I could, and might possibly move there...I liked it that much.
Nice, looks like a beautiful place...................except for the skeeter. Visiting Australia and New Zealand are on my bucket list.
