  • I found my way for how long though?.

Hello all! Mr.scootinn found his way to this forum now! LOL --For how lon I do not know as I am researching the k1600 exclusive, like many things in life pros & cons to each! I can say the wing has been a most reliable bike, with only 80000 on it plenty more life.I was hoping honda would have done some things for the 40th anniversary no such luck! So here i sit researching.LOL...Just more of a hello to all then anything hope life is going your way!

I understand your frustration with Honda. I have been waiting for four years for a significant change in the Goldwing. I suppose if there is going to be one, 2016 would be the most logical model year. It would be tough to introduce an entirely new platform on an anniversary year. If there is not a completely new Wing in 2016, then I think it is safe to say, it ain't coming. And, if there is to be one, my guess would be an early year-model release, maybe in May 2015. But, what do I know?

Well, first...YOU know a lot, and you are a great help to many riders out there. So put that thought to rest.

Secondly, here is why I would NOT buy a K1600:

You have to use Premium fuel.....costs more...but more importantly it is not always available at a lot of gas stations, especially in other countries.
You will pay 3 to 4 times as much for parts, for maintenance, and for service on the bike, as you would for the Honda Goldwing.
You will have to do...3 to 4 times as much maintenance/service on the K1600, as you would on the Goldwing.
People will know you are a snob, just because you own a BMW, rather than assuming you are one, for owning the Wing.
You will have fewer friends............... :p

Fuel cost i see as being even from what I understand They are averaging better in MPG which would make up for the extra cost of premium !
For maintenance ,I will have to check on! what is so different? I use full synthetic oil runs 50-60 $ doing my self on the wing ! What does the k1600 require in maintenance that is 3-4 times as much maintenance compared to the wing? I understand parts can be expensive but if covered under warranty with either factory or extended then that is not a problem! Now if you drop it another story which I agree with! But how does the k1600 require more maintenance or cost more for regular maintenance.

Wow, you spend a LOT for oil & filter changes....doing it yourself. I spend about $ 35.00 doing it myself, with OEM Honda oil filters, and using full syn Mobil 1...and...a new drain plug gasket.

Pics of my bike on the "lift"...for an oil change, and to install Black powder-coated wheels.

Aha...then you have obviously never owned a BMW before ( I say in jest)...prepare to be shocked...sticker shocked...at the price of "things". Having owned several of those beemers, the valves need to be done more often, and there are things that the dealership will tell you are NOT covered under warranty...that you will pay for out of pocket.

I would add to the list of reasons not to buy a BMW (I used to own two of them):
                *Fewer Dealers
*Technology tends to be "bleeding edge" which means lots of trips to those few dealers
*My experience with several of the few BMW dealers here in Ohio was horrible -- they hadn't a clue how to address the technology issues.

Very true have never owned one! That is why i do appreciate first hand knowledge ! Always helps with making a choice..Please give me some of that information the dealer does not disclose ? How often and cost of valve adjustment! -I know it will be higher for any service ,but can not most basic services be done by yourself?

I have looked at the BMW but for 1/2 the money the Kawasaki Concours is damn near as good. I leave the Concours at the mountain house in NC so when I ride with my boys I can keep them in sight. The Concours was the top rated Sport Tourer before the BMW knocked it off the top of the heap. I would have to travel at least 100 miles to get to the nearest BMW Dealer. There are Kawasaki dealers everywhere. The Concours is easy to service if you want to do your own work and they are bullet proof. I am on my second one and couldn't be happier. Choose wisely grasshopper..... BTW, Welcome!
