    Western MI 2018 DCT Intro

I'm a little late to getting around to an introduction & don't want to simply lurk so here goes a little bit about me and the GW bike. First off, I bought the 'fast' red 2018 DCT Tour last April from Babbitt Honda in Muskegon, MI. Not had the chance to have that big cross country tour with the bike yet but have gotten out on a couple overnighters. In the past I've done a great deal of touring but over the last number of years, not so much. A 2005 FJR was my ride then but I sold it a few years back when moving from the east side of Michigan to the west side. The purchase of the GW is my way of getting back into the game. My other ride is a HD XR1200x. A nice complementary sporty ride for around my home. Few niggles about the bike. The gas economy is incredible and for a big bike, handles qreat. I haven't done the GPS update yet but have found a general way around some of the difficulties with routing. In the 6 months I've had it, its been a great ride. I look forward to reading and participating in the forum.

Afraid you're correct on weather conditions. We've already gotten light snow and it won't be long for the real stuff to begin falling and staying around. Operationally, the GW is probably in its last weeks until warmer times in 2019.
We rode US-12 quite a ways across there. Much better than fighting the speeds and traffic across the interstate. But that's my own preference.

Welcome to the forum ... Great choice on the bike (I have one just like it)! I'm guessing you're thinking about parking your bike for the winter & getting the snow machine ready, but there is a great cross-country ride that departs coastal NC and heads to coastal CA in late March/early April. (Google "40 to Phoenix") Easy way to get back into the long distance tour mode. Some participants trailer their bikes, if needed, to get to snow-free roads. We'll see you on the road.

Welcome aboard! We had the pleasure of riding down through MI in 2013. Will do so again after I retire. Enjoy your ride and be safe! (And you're right. Red is fastest!)
